Wig Newbie

Lace frontals are used to recreate the entire hairline from ear to ear while lace closures recreate the hairline from temple to temple across the hairline.

Lace Closures are typically 4×4 or 5×5 inches and covers a horseshoe-shaped portion at the top or your wig.

Lace Frontal is typically 13×4 or 13×6 inches and go from ear-to-ear, which gives a greater coverage allowing more versatile and creative styles.

A frontal wig will provide more versatility when it comes to styling your wig while closure wigs remain the most appropriate option for simple everyday looks and are more low maintenance.

You can also provide a small, medium or large size for a standard fit.

If you are new to lace wigs and have never worn a frontal before or just simply want something low maintenance, I would suggest purchasing a lace closure wig as your first wig and then you can go on to lace frontal wigs.

HD stands for “high definition” lace which is a royal lace material which has the appearance of seeming invisible when applied to the scalp. This ensures that the wig-wearer can have an exposed hairline, which looks very natural and renders the lace along the hairline highly undetectable. HD Lace is our most soft and delicate lace and is most recommended for special occasion wigs.

Transparent lace is the regular lace in a transparent colour. We often recommend the transparent lace to women with lighter skin tones, it can also be used for darker skin tones just by tinting the lace, giving it a darker shade of colour.

A U-part wig is a wig with a U-shaped opening at the front that allows you to blend your natural hair (your leave-out) in with the wig.

Monroe Wigs have a life expectancy of 1-3 years. The determining factors of how long your wig will last is based on maintenance and how well you take care of your wig, how often it is worn, and if it’s been processed (with colour). You can extend the life of your custom units by replacing the lace on your wig when needed, as with normal wear and tear your frontal/closure at some point will start to experience thinning and/or balding. Here at Miche Monroe Luxury Hair we offer a replacement frontal/closure and a Monroe Luxury Wig Spa and maintenance service, just send in your wig and we will do the rest. Check out the rest of our services in the main menu.
